Hi everyone! Let me dust the Nexus a little bit, and I will be right there with you.
All right, here we go: I am starting week 6 of the Fall semester. My second year of doctoral studies is going very well so far. My classes are very challenging; one is in Literature and the two others in History of Ideas. They are demanding in terms of work and thinking, but all of it is so worth it and fuels my academic research. My projects focus on topics as different as translation, women’s sexuality, and mysticism’s relationship with technology.
My work as a Teaching Assistant is still going on well, as I work for the third semester in a row for the same Professor and class. I appreciate the professional experience and being able to give back to the school.
I am grateful for my great department and how things are shaping up for my doctoral project. I used to joke that my 3rd year (as I am still aiming to complete the program in 4 years instead of 5) might be my most difficult one due to field exams, but at this point, I am unsure whether it will be more challenging than what I am currently working on!
Due to that, I have had little time for the blog, besides #SciFi Women Interviews, which I am delighted to continue every month. Stay tuned because I still have some amazing guests for the last few months of 2017! I have news regarding several of my eBooks, which I should post in October, and I still hope to release a new short story in the same universe as Dream Crusher, within the next months. I have several academic publications coming up as well.
If you like my work and have money to spare, my Ko-Fi page is available at this link. I am always grateful for any support I get, which goes towards blogging, publishing, academic research expenses. Thank you!
It is a very busy time for me but I am growing a lot and it feels good to do something with my life. I don’t share much about my personal life on the blog out of habit, although you can catch peeks into my day-to-day life if you follow me on Instagram. Yet, I am happy to say that I have also shifted perspectives and have been devoting more time to self-care this semester. I am more proactive about my mental and physical health and the changes I have implemented have already been very beneficial and I have more to slowly add as this semester unfolds.
What about you? How is life?
